After countless inches of snow and freezing cold temperatures, we can all breathe a sigh of relief that Spring in Chicago is now upon us. This season is a reminder that it’s time to shed those down-filled layers and start warming up to the flowers in bloom.

Spring also means we can start to explore the city and get back to spending more time outdoors. If you’re looking for things to do close to your rental apartment in Old Town, here are few activities to do in Chicago that you won’t want to miss!

Macy’s Flower Show Presents Once Upon a Springtime

An enchanted adventure awaits! From now until April 8th, Chicago’s iconic Macy’s store will present a magical storybook world of beauty and wonder. With an original take on classic fairy tales, there will be plenty of photo ops!

As visitors enter each show, they can choose their adventure based on how they begin their trip through the floral fantasy land. Bring the family to this free public event -- we know your little ones will love roaming through the Girl Scouts of the USA “G.I.R.L. HERO” Garden!

34th Chicago Latino Film Festival

The 34th Chicago Latino Film Festival (CLFF) will be taking place April 5th to 19th at the AMC River East 21 Theatres, just a 10 minute Uber ride from Old Town Park. This year will showcase over 100 feature-length and short films from Latin America, Spain, Portugal and the United States. Tickets are only $13, or $10 for students and seniors. You can also opt for the Film Passport at $110, which gives you admission to 12 movies!

Dragon Lights Chinese Lantern Festival

From March 30th to May 6th, Dragon Lights will illuminate Soldier Field with thousands of handcrafted light sculptures, live Chinese acrobat performances, traditional handicraft demonstrations and many more attractions you won’t want to miss. Don’t forget to come hungry and snack on the authentic Chinese and Asian eats!
